PROGRAM
A Proposal to create a Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary Wine Club

Our program this week was given by Pat McDermott and Rich Watson.  They proposed a new fund raising idea.  The concept started when it was thought that we would no longer be able to have the Barn Party at the Fair Park.  The goal was to find another fund raising event that would net $100,000 a year.

The solution: The Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary Wine Club

It would include:
  • Quarterly shipments of 3 bottles of wine
  • Annual Wine Club Party
  • Target Retail $30 to $50 bottles

Annual cost would be between $400 and $700 per Wine Club Member

1.  Procurement - only local wines, purchased at wholesale and ask for an additional discount - three different wines      each quarter
2.  Distribution - local wine distribution company, Wine Shippers. They will do it for about $23 per shipment, we would charge a $25 shipping fee - all wine will be shipped to members
3.  Management and Sales - there is a software program Vin65, that does it all.  Would need an employee to handle the website and billing and other backroom responsibilities. Sales - every club member needs to be in, cost about the same as current Barn Party, but now they would get a tangible product.  We would need to expand the club, the goal would be for each member to get 5 others to join the club

This program advances the cause of rotary and would give us the opportunity to reach hundreds of people as far as what Rotary does because we would include materials about what we do in each shipment.
