PROGRAM
Kevin Walthers presented the results of a survey he completed regarding the Rotary Barn Party and it’s future.

Responses were received from:
3 founding members
14 members in the club five years or less
8 members who have been in the club six to ten years

There was a good representation of years in the club in the survey

Results:
51% said it’s the Barn Party is a hallmark event and should be continued
49% said it has outlived its time

Rank Order Aspects
Top three items of what is most important for the event
1. Fundraising
2.Camaraderie
3.Community outreach

Ratio of work to funds raised
42% work to money raised is the right amount - 22 respondents
48% too much work – 25 respondents
10% very easy – 5 respondents

Proposed Wine Club
Keep the Barn Party 29% - 14 respondents
Would recruit wine club members 16% -  8 respondents
55% don’t feel comfortable recruiting members for a wine club – 27 respondents

If the wine club did raise as much as the Barn Party, we should;
Add to the Barn Party  - 24 respondents
Replace the barn party - respondents 9

Takeaways from the survey
  • Club is split on the Barn Party
  • The wine club is not a viable replacement
  • Fundraising and camaraderie are valued parts of the Barn Party
  • The half of the club that support the Barn Party has not been heard
  • Members vs non-members; our club is a quarter to a third of people buying auction items
  • While we are 29% of the buyers, we were 42% of the dollars
  • A lot of the money is coming from the live auction part
  • When you factor in the $400 for the auction items and $600 for tickets, we are funding 60% of the party
  • The current format may be unsustainable
