BRAGS

Teresa Reyburn (Rotarian of the Month): took the opportunity to brag on her Mom and a couple of her favorite Rotarians, Mark Jackson and Mike Gibson (for being great friends and hardworking club members). She did mention something about a "Big Brother" role for one of them...........but we won't get into thatsurprise

Gary Nemetz: bragged on Darrenberries achieving an all time record for production. He also said that owner Darren Gee is slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things after recuperating from a major accident. $30

Mark Jackson: bragged on Ava Bradley for being a big help in the past (and hopefully in the future) at decorating for the Barn Party Luau. Ken and Brooke have definitely raised a self motivated, hard working young lady. $50

Dan Blough: brought everyone up to date on his recent heart bypass surgery. He thanked everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers and complimented the medical staff on a job well done. He did however, experience a severe bed discomfort issue that took it's toll on his back (big thanks go to Wayne for helping him out). The recuperating process now seems to be going nicely. Dan was very generous in donating $500 to the Rotary compassion fund and another $500 to a veterans chiropractic fund that Wayne Miller is involved with for a grand total of $1,000.

Kristine Mollenkopf: was very proud of our local Rotaract Club. Not only did they charter the club with the necessary 15 members, they also are staying very active in community activities. President Elect Kristine will continue to help foster their enthusiasm through our club's many activities. $25

FINES

The following members were fined $30 each so that the President can get caught up before her last meeting on May 25 (which she keeps reminding us of every week)

Chris Hastert - Michele Jensen - Peter Sterling - Jason Stillwell - Dave Wright

PROGRAM

Santa Barbara County Grand Jury

This week's program was presented by Darrel Parker, Executive Director of S.B. County Superior Court. Mr. Parker explained to the club what a grand jury does and how the members are selected. There are currently two active grand juries in the county. One is civil, the other is criminal. Each jury consists of 19 members that are chosen through an application process of qualified county residents. If chosen, a jury member is required to meet once a week with fellow jurors to research, discuss and vote upon a wide variety of legal issues. Once elected, each juror may serve for a maximum of two years. If interested, applications are now being accepted through the county's website
