Check Presentation

The OAHS Robotics Team joined us this morning to receive a donation of $1,000 to help with their fundraising efforts.

Pictured above: Past President Lee Carroll presents a check for $1,000 to faculty advisors and members of the OAHS Robotics Team.
BRAGS

Teresa Reyburn (Rotarian of the Month): bragged on Kristine Mollenkopf for helping her with the recent "Fashion in Aktion" fundraiser. She also took the opportunity to brag on fellow club member Kerin Mase for agreeing to join the Santa Maria City Task Force.

Tim Seifert: had a birthday recently and he and Shannon traveled up to Big Sur to celebrate. With the washed out road closure, they pretty much had the whole place to themselves. $59

Shannon Seifert: was very happy that the YMCA exceeded their fundraising goal and reached a mind boggling $280,000. In particular she wanted to thank everyone in the club that helped the Y achieve that amount. $100

Jean-luc Garon: and his wife Tanya, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. No too many details, but we think they had a great time. $20

Mike Moats: bragged on Tim Seifert and his CDBG committee for choosing great candidates as recipients for the city's annual grants. He also bragged on Frank and Scottie Ortiz for hosting a fantastic Rotary dinner. $100

Jason Stillwell: took the opportunity to brag on his wife's birthday. $39

James Thomas: and his wife Annie also had a great time at the Ortiz dinner. $50

Mike Gibson: and his wife Marla celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary with a little trip to Santa Barbara. $34

Ted Ortega: has been traveling to many places these past few weeks. Not only has he been golfing in Hawaii, but he and Beth also celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by going on a Carribean Cruise as well. $100

Ty Fredrics (OAHS RoboticsTeam): bragged on his Robotics students for doing a spectacular job. Both advisors are extremely proud of them.

FINES

Teresa Reyburn & Kristine Mollenkopf: were fined $30 each for not providing the President picture of their recent fashion show (although Teresa got a free pass because she is the current "Rotarian of the Month").

Ken Bradley: didn't brag about his recent business trip to Dubai. Not only did he see the sights, but there was also some serious camel riding going on. No mention was made, so a big $60 fine was levied (he was way behind in the fine category)

Carl DeRiso: laughed when he shouldn't have while the President was speaking, but fellow member Mark Jackson said that he would gladly absorb $5 of the fine for him (since he is such a big help to the Barn decorating committee) $30

Wayne Miller: apparently used a Christmas golf towel recently. That won't do when your playing with Rotarians....$30

Jason Stillwell: received an award from the city but never told us about it. That will cost him $30

PROGRAM

Glenn Morris
Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce
Visitor and Convention Bureau

This week's program was presented by SMV Chamber of Commerce/Visitor & Convention Bureau CEO Glenn Morris. Mr Morris gave the club a brief history of the organization and what areas the Chamber currently focuses on. Having started in 1768 in New York City, the Chamber has come a long way in helping businesses become successful in almost every town in the United States. Some focal points for the Chamber include striving to be a catalyst for business growth, helping to form a strong community and bridging the gap between businesses and city leaders/influencers. The Chamber also works closely with schools and the local college to help prepare our future leaders and business owners to become successful in their chosen fields. After speaking, Mr. Morris then took time to answer the many questions from our club members
