Paul Harris Presentation

At this weeks meeting, Mike Buhring honored his wife Michelle with a prestigious Paul Harris Award. Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary prides itself on being one of the select few clubs to have 100% of it's members as official Paul Harris Fellows.
BRAGS

Mike Gibson & Dave Wright (Rotarians of the Month): Dave couldn't think of anything to brag about this week. Mike, on the other hand, felt that the Buhrings deserved a big "shout out" for being great club members.

Craig Bernard: Had quite a bit of things to brag about. First and foremost is his new grand baby born on December 31st. He also went skiing in Salt Lake City, traveled to Cuba and flew back on a plane that he shared with fellow Rotarian Rich Watson and his family. All that was worth a whopping $100.

Laurie Tamura: was happy to brag about her husband's recent birthday that they celebrated at a Rams game. The family was happy to be together despite the dismal showing of the home team. Oh well, there's always next year. $50

Mike Buhring: was extremely happy to brag about he and Michelle's recent wedding anniversary. 30 years equals $30. Congratulations you two!

Mike Moats: recently traveled to Sacramento for a city council boot camp. While there, he learned the many things not to do while in office to stay fine free and out of prison :) Let's just say that it was a very educational process. That brag was worth $50

FINES

Chris Hastert: didn't have his pin on in a recent photograph with fellow Rotarians. Shame on you! $30

Kate Ferguson: was being a very nice grandmother by keeping her grand daughter as warm as she could at an extremely cold swim meet. I'm not quite sure how that deserves a fine??...........but who am I to question the President? $30

Tony Spinelli: will rue the day that he left his hat at last week's meeting. It traveled from head to head and was photographed on many Rotarians. Having said all that, it looks like he's going to have to pay $30 to get it back. Kinda like a Rotarian ransom wink
PROGRAM

    Allan Hancock College
    "Get focused, Stay focused"

This weeks program was presented by three AHC representatives, Nohemy, Emily & Petra. Each speaker spoke about different aspects of integrating a new student into the college curriculum that best suits their life's goals. The topics ranged from monthly high school counselor meetings and career development to a counseling specialty known as "Intrusive Advising" . Their presentation was very well done and educated all audience members on the educational programs and opportunities given to all students intending on becoming AHC freshmen. The speakers then fielded members questions afterwards.
