BRAGS

Leonard Champion (Rotarian of the Month): took the opportunity to brag on his fine team from the Santa Maria Fire Dept. With the recent fires that have broken out, they have all rose to the occasion and helped where needed and absorbed the added work load like the true professionals that they are. He is extremely proud of them.

Debbie Blow: was very happy to announce the her husband Keith is finally coming home after a lengthy recovery period following his surgery. She was all smiles and bragged $25.

Craig Bernard: just returned from a fun vacation that included a trip to Europe. He and Kelly went to a few countries and enjoyed everything that they had to offer. Thank you for the $50 brag.

Kevin Walthers: beamed as he bragged that he finally broke par at a recent golf tournament. He also traveled to the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield to see one of his favorite's, Dwight Yokum in concert. While he was there, he was surprised to see one of his fellow Rotarians in attendance (see below). Didn't quite hear the brag amount, but I'm sure it was somewhere between $25 & $50.

Tim Staffel: Surprise! Who would have known that Tim was a big Dwight fan? Anyway, whoever said "it's a small world" (Disney maybe?) certainly had that right. Anyway, Tim had a great time and really enjoyed the concert as well. $25

Mark Jackson: drove down to the L.A. area to see a very entertaining play that used to be a big hit on Broadway when it first came out. He also bragged on his daughter, Rachel. She recently accepted an intern position as an "Artist in Residence" in Toronto, Canada. He is very proud of her and all of her accomplishments. $25

Mike Gibson: gave a big "shout out" to Kathy Simas for the nice article regarding our club in the new Santa Barbara Foundation newsletter. Thank you Kathy! $30

Mike Moats: went to Hawaii with the family and climbed to the top of Diamond Head where he found tons of people doing the same thing he was. That was a shocker to him (it is summer time, right?). All in all, he and Susan had a fantastic time. Thanks Mike for the very generous $100 brag!

Lee Carroll: bragged on his daughter Julianne who recently joined a Rotary Club in Spokane, Washington. Way to go Lee, you raised her wellwink $25

Laurie Tamura: has been very involved with the recent fire damaged campgrounds in the Santa Ynez area. Fortunately, the damage will be covered by insurance, but it will take some time to get things back in working order again. Laurie was extremely thankful that no one was injured during the devastation. Kudos go out to all the fire personnel and first responders that continue to battle the Whittier fire. $100

Jim Peterson & Kate Ferguson: bragged on the Chumash Casino for helping to transport Whittier Fire evacuees from immediate danger. $30 each

FINES

There were a few.....

Abel Maldonado: In absentia, for just not being there (President's prerogative) $30

Doug Palmer: forgot to introduce himself $30

Lee Carroll: giving Jim Peterson a hard time $30
PROGRAM

Club Assembly

Every year, each Rotary Club gathers together as many members as possible and goes over continuing resolutions, reviews financial reports and discusses programs and fundraisers. This year we had a good turnout and a wide variety of items were discussed in detail form in a "members only" environment.
