BRAGS

Leonard Champion (Rotarian of the Month): This was the last week for Leonard to hold this lofty designation. He happened to be absent today, so he couldn't take advantage of his free brag pass. He is a hard working individual and a great addition to our club. Thank you for all your service Leonard.

Jerry Walsh: and his lovely wife Ann, recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Congratulations you two! You are a great example of what all married couples should aspire to be. $48

Andy Caldwell: bragged on his wife Linda's recent birthday. He rounded quite a few years up just to give the club a generous $50 brag amount. :)

Steve Baird: Program speaker Steve, wanted to brag on Rotarian member Lee Carroll for all his service to the Band of Brothers organization. Lee is currently a BOB member as well as a consultant to their Board of Directors. In fact Lee is such a good guy, he's even going to pay Steve's brag for him (Wow!...isn't he the best?) $25

Kristine Mollenkopf: bragged $25 on Mark Bachman, Randy Wise & Elks Recreation for treating the youth group Elk's Antlers to a pizza party and bowling last weekend. The Antler's volunteer efforts helped us out greatly at our last Rotary Barn Party. Thank you Antlers again for all your help!

FINES

President Kristine gave us all a break today by not handing out any fines this morning (Don't get too excited, I'm sure she will more than make up for it next week) sad
PROGRAM

BAND OF BROTHERS

*Pictured above: Mr & Mrs. Steve Baird

This weeks program was presented by co-founders Steve Baird and Brian Williamson. The group "Band of Brothers" was established as way for struggling returning vets to discover that they still have a fraternity of "friends for life" with fellow military veterans that are dealing with the same issues that they are. It started out as a small softball team of 21 where everybody plays and has now branched out to four times that many. There is now a new extension club in Lompoc as well. They have banded together to give each other the support they need and have also collaborated their efforts to give back to the community through volunteering. A special emphasis has also been given to mentoring our youth so that they can hopefully develop into productive citizens. The group has evolved into a family of one (including spouses, significant others & children). To expand on this, the spouses recently formed an offshoot group of their own to better get to know each other and further the bonding process. This morning's program also included testimonials from other BOB members that were in attendance. Our Rotary club is very proud to help sponsor this fine organization.
