Check Presentation
A check for $1,000 was presented to the Food Bank.  The check was accepted by Food Bank representative Darlene Chavez.  She explained how today's donation would provide 8,000 meals.  We were also reminded of the upcoming Empty Bowls Event to be held on October 25 at the Santa Maria FairPark.
BRAGS

  • Mark Clarke (Rotarian of the Month): unfortunately Mark was absent again this morning, so he was not able to take advantage of his last chance to have a "free" brag and be immune from fines.
  • James Thomas: bragged $25 on moving into a new house
  • Teresa Reyburn: bragged on the food bank’s serving of 25,000 meals for kids during the summer, and Allan Hancock College PCPA for a total of $50
  • Michele Jensen: bragged on the Rotaract Club event, for $25, she also presented us with a certificate from the Rotaract Club
  • Mike Gibson: bragged on Shannon Seifert who created a go fund me page for the Foxen Family – a very neat site.
FINES
  • Shannon Seifert: fined herself $50
  • Pat McDermott: didn't brag about his birthday on Aug 29, it was the big 6-0, but he was only fined $30
PROGRAM
Pacifica Hotels - Inn at the Pier

Our program this week was presented by Melissa McDermott Colon and Victoria Judge from Pacifica Hotels.  Tourism spending in California supports over 1 million jobs, and Pacific Hotels, which is centered in Irvine employs over 1200 employees.
They operate 13 boutique hotel properties on the Central Coast from Pismo Beach to Cambria.  The Inn at the Pier is a four star luxury property that will be opening on October 14, 2017.  Pacifica took on three new hotels last month.  They have up to 36 hotels and are looking to go to 50 hotels in the next 2 years.

The Inn at the Pier is located in downtown Pismo Beach.  It will feature 100 rooms, a conference room, and a roof top patio.  The conference room will hold up to 80 people.  The property features two restaurants: a roof top bar and restaurant and a restaurant down below.
