ANNOUNCEMENTS

  •  Rotary Family Christmas Breakfast: December 21 - SM Country Club @ 7:00 AM

  • It was announced that the Flag Drag during the recent Santa Maria Parade of Lights raised $852.   This was more than was raised last year.

  • Kate Ferguson asked anyone who has not signed up, and is bringing children to the Xmas party next week, to please let her know. You only need to sign up if you are bringing children, not to whether or not you are attending the Breakfast.

  • Mike Buhring reminded us that Barn Party planning meetings will start after the first of the year.

  • Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 3rd for the Special Olympics.

  • Carol Bradley thanked everyone for attending the Humans Society luncheon.  Sean Hawkins announced that $153,000 in donations was raised.
  • Dan Blough reported that the Humane Society does not have an x-ray machine. Dan is working to determine what type of machine is needed.  They are not cheap. He and Peggy will make a large investment, but probably will need some help to meet the goal of purchasing a machine for our local Humane Society.
BRAGS
  • Peter Sterling bragged $50 on his trip to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo last week.  He said that it was a working trip?    Presentations on how our Santa Maria Rodeo was organized were very well received.  He is very proud of our Santa Maria Rodeo.

  • Andy Caldwell bragged on celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife Linda.  He also mentioned that his daughter was supposed to help announce the parade, but when she got there, she had been replaced...

  • Jerry Schmidt bragged $100 on his daughter’s recent engagement to be married.

  • Kathy Simas bragged $100 on celebrating a milestone birthday, and that to celebrate they went to see Hamilton.

  • Leonard Champion bragged $49 on celebrating his birthday last Monday.

  • Laurie Tamura bragged $50 on being back on a bowling league.  She bowled the highest game she has bowled in many years.

  • Wayne Miller bragged $50 to go towards the compassion fund… something about keeping Laurie’s body in shape all these years, thus allowing her to bowl so well????

PROGRAM

Today’s program was provided by Amy Curti, who is a performer and singer.  She teaches music in the Orcutt and Santa Maria schools.  We were treated to a performance by the Orcutt Union School District Glee Club, which is under her direction.  The Glee Club is composed of students from both Orcutt and Lakeview Junior High Schools.  The students performed three songs:

·        It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

·        I need a Silent Night

·        Heaven Everywhere

Thank you Kristine Mollenkopf!

Kristine has accepted a new position in Lincoln, CA as their City Attorney.  While we are happy for Kristine, we are sad for our club, as we say goodbye to our president.   After a rigorous recruitment process, the Lincoln City Council named Kristine Mollenkopf as the City’s first in-house City Attorney, to begin on January 2nd, 2018.

We thank Kristine for all her leadership, and particularly for her willingness to serve as our president.  We will miss her, but wish her all the best in her new endeavors.
