MEETING DATE:  August 27, 2020

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: President Ryan Swack

FLAG SALUTE: Video: Children's Classroom Pledge Recital

INVOCATION:  Ryan Swack: Special Rotary Invocation

"Dear Lord, being in Rotary allows us to serve others. We ask that you help us remember always the Four Way Test as we work today and everyday. Help us to serve humbly and willingly as we focus on the needs of our community. Thank you for our gifts and help us to use them wisely. Amen"

VISITING ROTARIANS: None

GUESTS OF ROTARIANS: Joe & Sabrina Dana
ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Downtown Fridays: As far as we know, virtual Downtown Friday's are still going on every week.

VTC Rodeo Queen Candidate: The rodeo may be cancelled but the Queen contest is going forward. A fundraising BBQ will also be happening on Saturday August 29 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the VTC Building on A street. The cost is $10.00 each. Contact Tanya Astrosky if you need more information or would like to volunteer your services.

United Way Rodeo Queen Candidate: Sabrina Dana is also fundraising and selling tickets to the many events that are planned for her campaign. Kevin Walthers will be e-mailing her website to all members so that they can help her reach her goal.

YMCA Virtual Golf Ball Drop: This will be happening on October 1, 2020 and Shannon Seifert has all the details.
BRAGS:

Chris Hastert: was happy to brag about Allegiant Airlines announcement that they will soon be providing a twice a week flight to Mesa, Arizona from Santa Maria. $30

Tanya Astrosky: happily bragged that she and her husband went on a mini hiking vacation where they trekked approximately 32 miles! Wow! Makes me tired just writing about it. $32

Shannon Seifert: After hearing Tanya's story, Shannon was proud to say that she and Tim recently went camping and didn't do any of that kind of stuff..........but they had a great time! $30

Mark Bachman: sent "well deserved" kudos to Terri and the entire Hitching Post staff for not kicking he and his group out recently. Apparently they were a little rowdy, but everyone had a great time and the food was fantastic! $100
FINES:

Dan Blough, Mike Moats & Frank Ortiz: fined $30 each because they live close to an eyesore. One of their neighbors decided to paint their house with Windex (at least that what it looks like). I guess by living close to it makes them guilty by association?

Lindsey Burris

Lindsey Burris of GivSum.com spoke to us this morning (via Zoom) regarding her organization and how they could work closely with our club to help us obtain the necessary funds needed to help support our local community. They offer a wide variety of ideas and have worked with numerous other Rotary Clubs to help them achieve their fundraising goals. After speaking, Lindsey answered questions from the membership.
