ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
1)  Blue Badge Induction: It's official Tony Spinelli is now a Blue Badge - the shortest induction ceremony to date!
 
2) Chris Slaughter with the Children's Discovery Museum, was presented a Check for $1,000.  She also reminded the club of the upcoming Kite Festival which will be held Sunday, April 17 and thanked Dan Blough Construction for construction of the kitchen at the museum.  She is seeking corporate sponsors to build a Tree House and a Farm Truck Exhibit.
 
3) Nipomo Rotary Golf Tournament:  Mesa Oaks Golf Course, Friday, May 13.
 
4) Morro Bay Rotary presents the Central Coast Rotary Golf Classic on Friday, May 20.
 
5) Community Action Commission was presented a check for $500.  Jim Bray introduced the group, which helps support aging seniors.  This check will support the Refrigerator Exchange program.  (Replaced a 1970 refrigerator with a new one - impact on the environment...huge.
 
 
6) Mike Gibson reminded us of the upcoming event, "Ladies Get Loud for CALM"  on April 28.  Ladies, let Mike know is you would like to attend.  We have fifteen waiters signed up from our club!
BRAGS
 
 
Ken Bradley (Rotarian of the Month) - Ken bragged on his father in-law's upcoming birthday, and that his daughter for embracing Volley Ball.
 
James Thomas - bragged $25 on the Day of Hope.  Sold over 1,000 Papers and raised $2,500.
 
Jim Ventriglia - bragged $25, - his birthday is this Sunday.  He will now be collecting Social Security, so everyone keep working!
 
Dave Wright - bragged $50 on his upcoming Birthday.
 
Jean-luc Garon - bragged $25, his wife's Birthday is tomorrow
 
Debbie Blow - bragged $25, her husband's Birthday is tomorrow
 
Kristine Mollenkapf - bragged $25 on the Brunch at the Bradfield's House
 
Wendy Foxen - also bragged $25 on the Brunch at the Bradfield's House.  Carol is rumored to have cooked....really, they checked the trash for take-out containers, none were found!
 
Ted Ortega - bragged $100 on attending Bruin Day at UCLA - his daughter will be a Bruin!
 
Kevin Walthers - bragged $25 on attending a conference in Chicago - some how he was able to work in attending Opening Day at the Cubs - tough conference!
 
Shannon Eckroth- bragged a total bid of $210 for her husband's Birthday, starting work with the Veteran's Corp, and talking to Shaquille O'Neal.
 
Frank Ortiz - bragged $25 on his granddaughters' 10th Birthday
 
Laurie Tamura - bragged $30 on an improved golf game, thanks to Wayne Miller
 
Peter Sterling - Bragged $20, his son has been accepted the UC Bakersfield

Barn Party Luau - 2016
President Elect, Laurie Tamura provided specifics about the Barn Party which will be held on May 14th, just 4 weeks away.
The calendar of events has been sent out
  • Kate Ferguson’s Wine Party – April 21 @ Kate’s House
  • Auction Items need to be completed by April 20
  • Banner Sales - $250 and Sponsorships available
  • Weekly meetings continuing
  • Move-in day April 25
  • Ticket Sales – coming along -send emails with names to Kate Ferguson
  • Bar Team has a “switch hitter” James Thomas – everything is set-up
  • Food team in capable hands under the direction of Dave Wright
  • Send Kristine Mollenkapf an email if you are doing the same auction item as last year
  • If you have Silent Auction Items, bring to Rotary or drop off at Suite 209
  • For those who cannot attend; you can do proxy bids
