Cactus League Baseball

(Spring Training)

Our very own Frank Ortiz was the speaker this morning. For those of you that don't know, Frank is probably the most avid baseball fan that you will ever meet in your life. In particular, he is a loyal follower of the San Francisco Giants. For quite some time now, Frank and his lovely wife Scottie have made an annual trip to Arizona to watch spring training games and socialize with "like minded" fans.

It all started many, many, many years ago when Frank made his first trek to the desert state to watch the Gila Bend Giants in action (pictured below) *Hard to believe, judging by Frank's youthful appearance

Since that time many improvements have been made to the team as well the equipment they use. Over the years they have had the pleasure of attending a large number of games and practice sessions that have given them the opportunity to see their favorite SF Giants players taking on some of the best in the league. Since this has become an annual event, it's a great feeling to not have to worry about reliable transportation getting to the venue. His RV may have a few miles on it but it's great to have something that you can rely on.

All kidding aside, Frank's presentation was very informative and the entire membership enjoyed listening to many stories that he shared. In the coming weeks, he will be going again and is looking forward to having another great time with friends and family. Our Rotary Club wishes them safe travel and we look forward to the many new adventures that he'll tell us about after they return.

Thank you Frank, we appreciate all you do for the Club!

This weeks raffle winners were
Jim Bray & Tim Staffel who gladly donated their winnings
to Special Olympics (Way to go gentlemen!)
