ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Turkeys & Hams: Lee Carroll Announced that our club Rotarians have raised approximately $3,400 for this worthy cause. Lee purchased 122 turkeys for the Thanksgiving fundraiser. The remaining $1,700 will be used for the Christmas holiday. The collected food will be given to needy families.
Christmas Canned Food Make Up Donations: Mike Gibson informed the attending members that 40 Rotarians donated $1,860 for the canned food drive for the Salvation Army. An additional $1,000 was also donated by Vivid Financial Services in Old Orcutt. Update: Mike sent out an e-mail after the meeting informing everyone that additional donations have now taken the total to $3,000 +.
Santa Maria Elks "Christmas in the Country": A "drive thru" holiday extravaganza is being prepared for all to see at the Unocal Event Center. The fun will begin on Friday November 27 and continue every evening (Wednesday-Sunday) until the end of December. Car load tickets will be available for purchase in the very near future. Our club has donated $2,500 to help sponsor this event. Mark Jackson will be overseeing the decoration and design of our Rotary Club display. Mark is asking any potential decorating volunteers to meet at the Unocal Center this Saturday (11/21) at 10:00 am. Please contact Mark if you can make it.
CALM Collection: Each year, Shannon Elliott works with CALM (Child Abuse Listening Meditation) therapists to identify those clients who could really use some help with gifts from the community as they are not well off financially. This year, because of Covid, CALM is pivoting to provide gift cards (such as to Target or Wall Mart or others) instead of physical gifts. The hope is to reduce the risk of spread for everyone involved.

BRAGS:
Peter Kang: As a member of the the Pastor Network, Peter and his fellow members provided lunch to 300 first responders. The Network represents 10 different churches. $20
Leonard Champion: thanked Peter and his fellow members for the nice lunch that was provided to him and his team at the Santa Maria Fire Department. $20
Roberto Rodriguez: bragged on the new CEO Michael Boyer at the Boys and Girls Club. He also bragged on his 21st wedding anniversary and the Bass Lake and Yosemite trip that he and his wife recently took. $50
Peter Sterling: is apparently barrel racing his horse against 10 and 12 year old competitors. So far he's won a belt buckle and was elevated to Division A (who knows....maybe 14 & 16 year olds now???) $50
FINES:
Jim Bray: President Ryan took notice that Tyler Bray is currently playing for the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately for Ryan it was not the same Tyler as Jim's son. Doesn't matter though, the Prez still fined him $30 just because.
Mr. Nelson attended our Zoom meeting from Thailand. He explained the much needed international program to all members in attendance. He would like to see as many members as possible join the Rotary sanctioned group. Attached is a spec sheet on what is involved. Contact Frank Ortiz if you would like to join the group.
