GUESTS OF ROTARIANS: Melissa Colon, Jamie Foxen and Kristen Vetaglia (Program Speakers)
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
2018 Christmas Parade: Saturday December 1st is the day and it's coming up very quickly. There is a chance of rain so Mike Gibson and Dave Wright would like everyone to check the parade website (smparadeoflights.org) anytime after 12:00 noon on Saturday to see if the parade is a go or no-go. A heavy rain forecast will be the only valid reason to cancel the event. Please ensure that you know your parade job duties and show up on time. Many thanks for all your help and we hope that everyone has a great time.
Peter Pan PCPA Performance: Friday November 30th. If you would still like to attend, please call Betty Miller to discuss ticket availability. Enjoy!
Clothing Drive: Kate Ferguson is still accepting clothing donations for the needy (jackets, sweaters, jeans, shirts, etc). Please send her a text or e-mail if you can be of service.
Guatemala Trip: Mark Jackson now has all spots filled for the upcoming Rotary trip in February. Way to go Rotarians for "stepping up to the plate" and donating your valuable time to help with this event.
Toy Drive for the Probation Department: Toys are needed for the children of moms on good behavior, please sign up.
Santa Maria Humane Society Heroes Luncheon: Thursday, December 6 at the Santa Maria Country Club. Carol Bradfield has ticket information if you are interested in attending.

Annual Rotary Christmas Breakfast: Thursday December 20 at the Santa Maria Country Club @ 7:00 AM. This is for all Rotary family members and yes, Santa usually makes a surprise appearance as well. Please e-mail Wendy with your attending child's name and age so that an appropriate toy can be purchased to help out Santa (not that he needs it of course)
Frank Ortiz:(Rotarian of the Month)
Frank is back!......and boy has he done some traveling while away. Mostly in the northeast part of the United States. New Hampshire, Cape Cod, New York City (Macy's Parade), etc. He had a great time but he's glad to be back and by the way, he's extremely proud to be a Rotarian forever.
Rich Watson: Took a couple of weeks to celebrate his 28th wedding anniversary (Pismo Beach "stay"cation). He also enjoyed a 7 day Mexico fishing trip with one of his good buddies. He happily announced that they caught a great amount of Wahoo (whatever the hell that is??). Whatever it was, it prompted him to brag a whopping big $100 brag. Thank Rich
Craig Bernard: Bragged on his wonderful Mother who recently passed away at the age of 90. She lived a great life and he and his family will miss her very much. $90
Leonard Champion: Was very proud of his Fire Dept crew that responded to a call involving an apartment and a gentleman that decided to set his residence on fire while holding his girlfriend as a hostage. The fire crew handled the emergency in a very professional manner and wanted all of us to know what a great job they did . $50
Mark Jackson: Bragged on his Portland, Oregon trip to see his daughter Rachel. Godson Seth who played in an AHC college football game. He's also very proud of his good friend Mike Gibson, who is currently handling the details of the upcoming Christmas Parade. All brags equaled a very big $100.
FINES:
Yes, once again Rotarians were caught not wearing their name badges (when will they ever learn?) Anyway, those caught today were fined $30 each - Jim Bray, Wendy Foxen, Terri Stricklin and MartinTesta.
PROGRAM
Pacifica Hotels
This week's program was presented by representatives from Pacifica Hotels. Melissa Colon (Pat's daughter), Jamie Foxen (Wendy's daughter) and Kristen Vetaglia brought the members up to date as to how many Central Coast hotels are currently owned by the corporation (15). These include Pacifica Suites (Goleta), Inn at the Pier (Pismo Beach), Springhill Suites (Atascadero), Oceanpoint Ranch (San Simeon) to name just a few. Jamie spoke to the membership and filled them in on all the new and exciting things happening within the company. For example, "The Kinney" is a recent hotel addition located in SLO. The property is relatively close to Cal Poly and includes fun, competitive activities that caters to student entertainment. In fact, our Rotarian members were very interested in all the hotels, especially when the discount slide appeared on their Power Point presentation (pictured below). Needless to say, if you or your company is interested in further details, please feel free to give them a call for more information. Thank you ladies for a great presentation. We appreciate you taking the time to speak to us.
