FUN, FOOD & FRIENDS

Event chair Pat McDermott shared what promises to be the next SMBR major fundraiser.  With all of the sponsorship opportunities filled and 318 tickets sold, the preliminary numbers are in:
Gross Receipts:  $112,000
[Sponsorships/$98,000]
[Ticket Sales/$4,950]
Expenses:  $52,800
Net:  $59,800

All of this would not have been possible without the support of an army of SMBR members that gave their time, treasure and efforts for this event.  Clearly a template has been developed that has established a SMBR brand for such an event.
CONGRATS FOR A JOB

PROGRAM

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

WAYNE MILLER,  D.C., D.A.B.C.N.

SMBR Past-President (1990-91)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) are medical treatments that administer oxygen to accelerate the body's natural healing process. First used in Great Britain in 1662, this process was clinically established in the 1930s and wider applications used in the 1940s through the 1960s.
During a session a patient sits inside a clear hyperbaric chamber with well above normal atmospheric pressure. While the patient breathes 100% medical-grade, oxygen is forced into the blood plasma thereby enhancing the healing process by adding to the existing oxygen carrying red blood cells.
As the use of HBOT continues, many physicians and researchers push forward and look at other conditions that HBOT may benefit. Studies show positive results with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injuries, and or cognition disorders. In many of these cases, HBOT treatment improves the conditions of patients, even with very poor prognoses. Studies into the treatment of autism, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and even cancer are underway.
