BRAGS & FINES

Martin Testa: bragged on Debi's birthday as well as their 41st wedding anniversary which added up to be $39.00???

Jim Peterson: bragged on his birthday and the nice dinner he had at Hitching Post (where he saw the Testa's celebrating as well)....$39.00  Hmmm, I'm seeing a pattern forming here

Terry Dworaczyk: bragged on his daughter getting married and his birthday. $39.00!!!!!. Now wait a minute, this is getting ridiculous......Ok he said......let's make it $50.00

Kirk Spry: bragged on his seventh grandchild who happened to be born with red hair. Kirk claims that once upon a time he had red hair as well. We tried to visualize the red, or any hair at all for that matter:) I guess we will just have to take his word for it. $20.00

Reggie Johnson: bragged on the recent cruise he and his wife took down the Rhine River. Other than having his luggage lost for two days, they had a great time. That was worth $35.00.

Dr. Michael Moats: bragged on his upcoming trip to Idaho to see Boise State begin their football season. He's looking forward to tailgating with friends and seeing the blue field up close and personal. $50.00

Ken Bradley: bragged on his recent 14th wedding anniversary. He and Brooke are looking forward to the nice restaurant dinner Jimmy V is going to provide for them (or maybe that's just wishful thinking). $50.00

Now for the fines..........

James Thomas: To congratulate Mr. Thomas on still being married (after two weeks), acting President Gibson felt that was worthy of a $27.00 fine.

Randy Wise: Your's truly was minding his own business, writing down these valuable meeting notes when (wouldn't you know it) our illustrious substitute president decided that I needed a fine. Something about my newspapers stacking up and going out of town to help our kids handle the new grandchild while traveling. Oh well, I guess no good deed goes unpunished....$30.00 fine

Patrick Mcdermott: Pat recently had a birthday that got him a little closer to his most likely "non existant" social security benefit. He bragged last week on it but apparently there was trip over the weekend that was the "cherry on top" of his birthday celebration. Being one to kick a fellow Rotarian when he's down, Gibson decided that a $40.00 fine was in order (now, that's just not right Mike).

Martin Testa: Testa Catering left some utensils at a recent event that he catered. Mr. Gibson thought that $30.00 was the fair value to return them to him.

Frank Ortiz: Now Frank is an avid Giants fan. Mike on the other hand bleeds Dodger blue. Apparently the L.A. team is 7.5 games ahead of the Giants (as of this printing) and currently leading the MLB NL West Division. President Gibson has been on the other end of this rivalry for many years in the past. Now was the perfect time for a $30.00 fine. Sorry Frank :(

Dan Blough: Mr. Blough is an apparent champion at "Words With Friends". Mike Gibson (or Dan for that matter) can't remember the last time Mike won a game from him. I think a little sour grapes were involved in the $30.00 fine that he levied against him. (Oh well, keep trying Mike. It's bound to happen sooner or later)

PROGRAM

This week's meeting was held the Santa Maria Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Our very own Rotary member Mike Buhring was the host and also provided the program.

The bottling company itself has been in existence and doing continuous business in Santa Maria for the past 107 years. The business is now company owned as of 2010, but at one time it used to be owned by individual businessmen. In fact, one of the first owners of the original facility on Jones Street was once Ty Cobb's son who lived here for many years. The facility currently is a part of the Northern California division and sells over 2.7 million cases of product per year. It takes approximately 82 employees to run the facility. With over 750 products to choose from, it is apparent that the company has diversified over the years and now provides all types of beverages that cater to the needs of a variety of consumers.

The local bottling company takes extreme pride in their community service and gets involved with a great number of local events. Many organizations (including our Rotary Club) are thankful for the many resources and products that have been donated over the years. Having charitable businesses such as the Coca Cola Bottling Company as part of our community helps make the central coast a better place to work and live.
