Jason Stillwell (Rotarian of the Month): Jason free-bragged on the reputation of Rotary. He wore a club t-shirt last week at a work conference and met some new friends that he will go hunting with in the very near future.

Leonard Champion: Recently won a few boxes in a Super Bowl game of chance. He bragged $100 to the club and an additional $100 to a safe house human trafficking non profit organization.

James Thomas: Was recently promoted to manager of the North Broadway/Alvin branch of Rabobank. $50

Tim Seifert: Also won a square. $100 to the compassion fund.

Kevin Walthers: Yet another winner of a square. Missed part of the game by listening to a long speech at a conference, but it was still more interesting than the game itself (ain't that the truthwink) $50

Peter Sterling: Announced that the Santa Maria Rodeo is now part of the pro tour which makes it one of the top 59 in the entire nation. $25

Pat McDermott: For the final time (we can only hope) Pat bragged on his wonderful, stupendous New England Patriots. Yes, they won the Superbowl, yes, he won a lot of bets, yadda, yadda, yadda. Good job my friend, now let's see what next year brings us. $50

Mark Bachman: Having a birthday on Friday. He's turning 51 but bragged $52. Happy B-day Mark and thanks for the extra buck!

FINES:

Not only are we not as smart as a fifth grader, we also are hit and miss on our acronyms (whats that??). Anyway, below are the latest members who were fined $30 whether they knew a definition or not.

"FINE FELONS"

James Thomas

Mike Cardona

Jack Gresser

Terri Stricklin

Michelle Jensen

Mike Buhring (fined himself for not knowing something that he asked us about....what a guy!)

PROGRAM

 Shaw's/Sergio's Fire

This morning Fire Chief Tony Clayburgh was our featured speaker. He walked everyone through a minute by minute review of what exactly happened that fateful morning of the fire. It started out as a small rubbish fire that was called in at 5:55 AM. Three engines were then deployed and they arrived at the scene at 6:05 AM. Inventory from the furniture store fueled the fire as it quickly took over the entire building. Firefighters managed to save most of Shaw's restaurant but unfortunately Sergio's was a complete loss. All in all, the entire incident took approximately 12 hours to contain using 750,000 gallons of water. The complete cause of the fire is still under investigation. We are very thankful and appreciative to have the many men and women of the Santa Maria Fire Department serving our community.
