Rotary Barn Party Luau:
Mark Jackson, once again, shared the need for more volunteers to help with the set-up during the week of March 9th! 
Kathy Simas reminded us of the need to turn in your Luau tickets turned in ASAP.  Don't forget to put your name on the back of the ticket stubs so your account can be properly credited.
Frank Ortiz let us know that the catalog will be available shortly.  Take a look and put together your "syndicate" for those special items.
Suzanne Levy is asking for assistance of six (6) members to monitor the Silent Auction tables.
Berto Rodriquez will have raffle tickets available for purchase in advance of the Luau.
 
8th Grade Community Interviews: The interviews will be conducted  May 16 - 19 at Orcutt and Lakeview Jr. High Schools. It would be great to have more interviewers. Contact Holly Edds or Laurie Tamura to volunteer your time.

Rotary Scholarships:  Several club members are currently reviewing 68 applications for SMBR awards.   
 
Police Council Golf Tournament will be played at the Santa Maria CC on Friday, June 10th.  If you're interested in participating let Mike Gibson know.
 
Ladies Get Loud:  SMBR is well represented with 12 waiters and at least than many lady guests that will be attending on the Roof Top of Santa Maria Toyota.  Mike will give us an update next week.
 
 
Suzanne Levy & the  Guatemalan Quilt Fundraiser: Time is short for more bids are welcomed for the online quilt auction. Mark Jackson e-mailed the link to everyone last week. Log in and see if you can be of help.
 
 
Party for the Walsh's: Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 21st from 2 to 4 p.m. for their "moving to Florida" party.  Please let Mike know if you plan on attending or if you are no longer able to attend.
 
 
National Day of Prayer: Jason Francia reminded us that Thursday, May 5th is National Day of Prayer.  A special event will be held at the Santa Maria Fairpark, 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. All Rotarians are encouraged to attend.
 
 
ELKS RODEO QUEEN CONTEST 2022
Rylie Halsell, St. Joe's Elks Queen Candidate invited all Rotarians to attend the many events scheduled in support of this year's Rodeo Queen Contest.  Check out the details at www.sjrodeoqueen.com/events-tickets
 
 
SMBR DISTRICT RECOGNITION
Tanya Astrosky shared several recognition awards SMBR received at the District 5240 Foundation Gala: 
Every Club, Every Year:  Achieved a contribution of $100 per capita during the Rotary year, with a contribution of at least $25 to the Annual Fund.
100% Foundation Giving Club: Achieved and average $100 per capita in giving and 100% participation, with all dues paying members contribution $25 to any or all of the following in a Rotary Year:  Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, Approved global grants, or Endowment Fund.
End Polio Now:  Countdown to History Campaign Certificate for clubs that contributed at least $1500 to Rotary's polio eradication efforts.

Jim Bray had another birthday, but this one extra special...he's gonna be a grand dad for the 1st time.  When asked what the little one should call him...he is now forever know as "Old As Dirt."  $50
 
Shannon Seifert:  Had a whole bunch of brags.  One for David LeRoy and Toyota, St. Joe Queen Candidate Rylie Halsell and, last but not least. one for PDG Frank Ortiz.  $100

Frank Ortiz:  Shared some old memories with Joe Halsell and his efforts with the Los Prietos Boys Camp and a building for the fire truck. $ 25
 
Ed Carcarey: proudly boasted about a star in the making.  His son Jonathan made the USA Youth National and International water polo teams. $50
