Recognizing Our Veterans: President Laurie had all Rotary members that served in the military stand up so that they could be properly recognized with our gratitude and applause. Thank you to all the men and women who's service to our country is truly appreciated .

 

Operation Surf: Jim Small volunteered his time to help "Operation Surf" offer their services to disabled veterans. The art of surfing was taught to all participants who successfully learned to navigate the choppy waves. Jim showed a video to the membership of actual surfing that occurred during that weekend. Our club is very proud to be a sponsor of this important program.

 

Righetti Interact Club: recently gave of their time and finances to donate food and drinks to the Good Samaritan Shelter. They currently do this the first Saturday of every month when school is in session. Rotary Club member Michelle Jensen currently serves as the club's advisor. Club member Jerry Walsh helped start the high school club around 30 years ago.

 

 

Christmas Parade of Lights: Mike Gibson urged everyone to sign up for a parade job (if they haven't done so already). This year's parade "special guest" will be our local 2016 Olympic boxer Carlos Balderas. The parade will be on Saturday December 3.

 

 

Rotaract Club: will be helping out our local Boys & Girls Club with a fundraiser. The event will occur on Sunday December 4th at the Santa Maria Club on Railroad Ave.. Our club has donated to the cause and is currently looking for member volunteers to help out if they are free that day. Contact Laurie if  you can be of service.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tim Staffel (Rotarian of the Month): Judge Staffel was not in attendance this morning to use his free brag benefit. One more chance Tim, before the month is out.

 

Jim Bray: bragged on fellow member Chris Hastert for allowing him to help out with the S.M. Airport advisory committee. $30

 

Tony Spinelli: is very proud of his 92 year old uncle who was a war veteran. He had a very emotional brag for $50.

 

Valerie Moya: bragged on her company Heritage Oaks Bank, for being a major sponsor of this year's "Season of Hope" campaign. $30

 

Mike Gibson: wanted to thank Dave & Maggie Cox for being a big help with putting together the "Parade of Lights" website. $30

 

 

Mike Moats: bragged on a tentative win for  a Santa Maria city council seat. He wanted to thank all the club members that supported him during the campaign. $100

 

Kevyn Walthers: made a combined brag on his anniversary and birthday for $57

 

Chris Hastert: wanted to brag on Jim Bray for all his help with the Santa Maria Airport. $25

 

Kate Ferguson: thanked all members that recently reached out and helped her an Arlen after he recently underwent knee replacement surgery. $50

 

Terri Stricklin: wanted to thank all Veterans for their service to our country. In particular, she wanted to reach out to all Vietnam Vets, of which her husband is one of. $50

 

 

 

Martin Testa: was fined $30 because he wasn't here after Halloween to brag on this photo. Apparently, he and Debi won the costume contest at Presquile Winery. Yabba Dabba Doo!! $30

 

Tim Seifert and Mike Buhring: were each fined $30 for not knowing their Rotarian magazine trivia question.

 

Craig Bernard and Tony Spinelli: were only fined$15 each because they "kind of" knew something. Not quite sure what....but it saved them $15.

 

Lee Carroll: was fined once again for not knowing when to keep quiet and for speaking out of turn. (don't mess with the Prez!!!) $30
