PROGRAM

The 37th District Buyer’s Coalition is a non-profit organization of private and public partners organized to raise funds for purchasing youth livestock fair projects.
The purchases support student leadership and skills gained through their fair experience while a portion of the meat produced is donated to community groups serving those impacted by food insecurity.
Fair kids spent up to a year feeding and raising these animals for a purpose, they are able to further their experience by seeing the kitchens where we are feeding our neighbors in need that is open to all students in 4-H, FFA, and Grange exhibitors in San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County that are officially registered for the Santa Barbara County Fair livestock show.
To be eligible, students must make an application and assist in marketing the animals that are to be sold. This includes:
1. Sending 5 formal Buyer's Letters into our community. Must be shown/verified by leader/advisor. At least (2) Buyer's Letters MUST be addressed to NEW potential buyers.
2. Send one buyer's letter to the 37th District Buyer's Coalition.
Since 2022 this program has purchased 260 heads of beef, hogs, sheep and goats weighing over 80,000 pounds!
