BRAGS:

Mark Jackson (Rotarian of the Month): Mark has been busy. He went to east Texas to help some family members re-locate. After that, he traveled up to Portland, Oregon to help his daughter (Rachel) get settled in. His son (Colin) is also looking to make Oregon his home as he hopefully gets promoted and transferred to a new location. (Brags are free for the entire month).

Wendy Foxen: Extremely happy that her daughter (Jamie) has a new exciting job as Social Media Manager with Pacific Hotels. She also bragged on some fellow Rotarians that paid her and Jim's dinner tab at Bella Forno the other evening. There was also another mystery couple involved as well. The brag was worth $100 to the Rotary compassion fund.

Kathy Simas: She had a tremendous amount of birthdays that she was involved with in July (husband, son, brother, son's fiancee and some close friends). Those were all worth a grand total of $100.

Mike Gibson: Recently returned from an extended stay in Maui. He and Marla had a great time with all of the family members that joined them. He also wanted to brag on all the brave firefighters that are currently battling the assorted state fires. $100

Chris Hastert: Just got back from a business trip to Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. He had a great time and learned quite a few things along the way. He also bragged on Chris Kunkle for taking the reigns on the upcoming air show. $40

Mike Moats: was happy to announce that he will be running once again for City Council ( think it's a win/win situation for him...maybe). He and Susan also returned from a great trip to Washington DC where they showed their grand daughter all the government sites. $150

Roberto Rodriguez: Thanked everyone that participated in the recent Boys & Girls Club golf tournament where they raised over $110,000. $20

Teresa Reyburn: was ecstatic to announce that the summer programs were coming to an end (with the added bonus of no lost kids). Everything went according to plan and she thanked the entire club for all of their support. $50

FINES:

The following members were fined $30 each because they didn't know their Coca-Cola trivia (can you believe it??)

Mike Cardona
Terri Stricklin
Michelle Jensen
PROGRAM:

This weeks program was presented by Chris Kunkle and the Kunkle family. They are currently organizing an Airfest that will take place on October 6 & 7 at the Santa Maria Public Airport. Since the last show was held over three years ago, they felt that it was about time to bring back some good old fashioned entertainment. This will help bring the community a little closer together as everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy this great family event. There will be over 50 planes flying in for this special show and they are expecting big crowds to attend. Note: The exact same show will be shown on both days. Tickets can be purchased at the door or you can receive a discount by buying them beforehand on their website. To make an event such as this be successful, a great number of volunteers are needed. 200 volunteers is the target number and they are a little over halfway there. If you think that you could spare a few hours on one of those days, please give Chris a call at (805) 350-0499.
