ANNOUNCEMENTS
1) Frank Ortiz - reminded us of the opportunity to donate to the relief efforts for the Erskine Fire Fund. Money will go towards gift cards for fire victims. $1,355 was earned for the Fire Fund from Rotary.
2) The Santa Barbara County Fair Livestock Auction is July 13-17. Rotary helped with sweatshirts for the Special Needs Students, many of whom have won awards with their goats.
3) Jim Bray - Supervisor Steve Lavignino's office is in need of storage space for the supplies and materials needed for his annual Stand Down for Veterans, which will be held in early October
4) The next Shelter Feed is July 28, volunteers are needed.
5) Frank Ortiz - asked Debbie Blow to join him at the podium to present her with her first Paul Harris Fellow award. This was the club's 196th Paul Harris Fellow
6) President Laurie Tamura - announced that we have a couple of members who have submitted their resignations: Reggie Johnson and Rob Buchanan. We will miss them, and thank them for their dedication to the club.
7) President Tamura, also discussed the new rotary logo, that not only includes the traditional wheel, but the name Rotary. It was determined that many people did not know the purpose behind the wheel, and equate it with rotary, so the name was also added.
8) Jason Stillwell - the City of Santa Maria moved forward this year to improve the situation around the discharging of illegal fireworks. Enforcement was increased, and fireworks were only allowed to be discharged on July 4. There were over 500 calls to the hot line, and $23,000 in fines issued.
