ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Shoes For Students Poker Tournament Fundraiser: Saturday March 12, 2022 / 1:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased from Kate Ferguson or Terri Stricklin.

Roberto Rodriguz: Berto talked about the Boys & Girls Club "Kids Night Out" on February 24th, 2022. They have limited it to 50 adults and 50 children, so sign up today. Our club is helping to sponsor the event, so there will be no charge if you would like to participate.

Rotary Barn Party: Saturday May 14th. The event will be focused on a maximum of 300 attendees. Each member will be responsible for four tickets at $100 each. Every member will also get two tickets (no charge) for themselves and one guest. Wine auction donations are being collected by Berto at each Rotary meeting. Mark Jackson will be assembling his decorating committee in the very near future. If you would like to volunteer, please contact him directly.

Berto will be sending out several items. Sponsorship Request Letter, Acquisition Form, 2019 Barn Party Catalog and a few other items.

Rotary Minute: This morning Jim Peterson was the presenter of a Rotary Minute. Jim told us that his tenure in Rotary started in The Rotary Club of Santa Maria (Noon). (As it has with many great Rotarians) Jim also talked about the Celaya 7, his time on the BBQ team and how the club was there for him when he lost his first wife to cancer. A very powerful and moving Rotary Minute.

Tanya Astrosky: Tanya bragged on a trip to Disneyland, being on live TV on ESPN and on seeing Holly Edds at Disneyland. $20

Shannon Seifert: Shannon bragged on the new chairs in the room, on Jim's "BEST" Rotary Minute and on Mark Clarke for picking some football pool numbers for a Super Bowl party which won her & Tim "the most hated people at the party" but she and Tim were okay with that. $100

Jimmy V: Jim bragged on hearing that he had won big on the Super Bowl pool but he hasn't see the money yet. $50

Berto Rodriguez: Rumor has it that Berto also won some money on the pool.

Tim Staffel: Tim bragged on Dan Blough and his 14 years on the Planning Commission. Tim also bragged on Jim Peterson's Rotary Minute. $100

Randy Wise: Randy bragged on his 40 year wedding anniversary. $40 Randy also bragged on the Rams for winning the Super Bowl. $20

Mark Bachman: Mark bragged on Terri and the Hitching Post for taking good care of him on his 54th birthday. $54

SERVE SANTA MARIA

Pastor Carl Nielsen

Pastor Carl gave us a very informative explanation of what Serve Santa Maria is and how it came to be.

Serve Santa Maria is a non-profit that coordinates outreach events where both local residents and people from throughout the county can help with different community projects.

According to organizers, Serve Santa Maria hosts these community service days about two or three times a year.

"Anytime we can help somebody get control back of their home or their life and you kind of know that they can live a little better quality of life, then that's a blessing," said Glenn Morris, a member of the Serve Santa Maria leadership team. "It just helps us to show God's love and the community's care for the individual."

The program collaborates with local churches and youth organizations for volunteers, and organizers say the sign-up list continues to grow.
