Today's Rotary Minute: Tanya Astrosky spoke this morning regarding a Rotary moment that impacted her life. It involved the Rotary convention in 2018 that she and her husband attended where they met Dr. Sashi (educator) from India that left a lasting impression on them. A District 5240 conference meeting that dealt with human trafficking, was also a program that she never will forget.
Rotating Dinners: Kate Ferguson is now organizing meal dates that will get random members (and their guest) together with other members for an afternoon or evening of Rotary fellowship. Hosts, more than guests are now needed to help get this program up and running. Time is running out, so please contact her ASAP.
Tanya Astrosky: she and her husband recently returned from an extensive "out of state" hiking vacation. The total miles hiked totaled 49, which equals a $49 brag.
Kate Ferguson: bragged on Tanya and her husband for completing their amazing journey and also gave a big "shout out" to the Testas for a great time on Saturday. $25
Mark Clarke: and Linda celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary with a great meatloaf dinner??? Congratulations you two!  $48
Lee Carroll: is looking for a new office with reasonable rent. He only has 60 days, so time is of the essence. (I'm sure that he'll brag something if/when a new place shows up).  $0
Holly Edds: sent her oldest daughter to Boston to continue her college education and bragged on the Orcutt Union School District for starting
up again. $50
Jason Francia: bragged on Kevin Walthers Instagram pst, where he stated that he sometimes walks new students to class. $20
Frank Ortiz: also bragged on the Testas  $35
Pat McDermott: Was fined $30 for an incorrect date notification for his "card dealer" day.
Jim Small: was fined $30 for not preparing Ed Carcarey's biography introduction before today's meeting.
Ed Carcarey
This morning Ed spoke to us about Downtown Fridays, which he is in charge of. This event happens every Friday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm from May 28 thru October 29. The event involves 70 vendors and a wide variety of musicians. This has been going on for the past five years in the Fallas parking lot. Ed told us that approximately 2,500 - 3,500 people attend each and every week. This event is designed to intermingle different walks of life to a fun social time that has a lot to offer each and every one of the attendees. With only a handful of celebrations left in this year, he encouraged all of us to make a concerted effort to try and attend before the current season is completed.
And the winners are..............Kathy Simas & Holly Edds
