BRAGS
1) "Rotarian of the Month" Lee Carroll bragged on his daughter Emily returning to the mainland from Hawaii. She is only here for a short period of time but he is glad to have her back however long it happens to be.
2) Tim Seifert: Tim went on some kind of fishing trip and had a great time (as usual). That was worth $25.
3) Mark Bachman: Both of Mark's sons had birthdays recently (14 & 16). He was also very happy about a new car dealership purchase that was about ready to finalize. Those brags were worth a whopping $150
4) Debbie Blow: Debbie's birthday was actually today! To celebrate, the club tried to sing "Happy Birthday" the best that they could (surprisingly, we actually sounded pretty good). Anyway after that melodious treat, Debbie bragged an arbitrary amount of $58
5) Peter Sterling: Peter recently purchased a new set of hot wheels. The new ride is a 2004 BMW convertible with only 35,000 miles on it (apparently owned by a little old lady from Pasadena). Congrats on the new car Peter! $50
6) Ted Ortega: Teddy O bragged on the club for having 53 members (so far) sign up to help with "Operation Surf "next Friday (10/16). at he and Beth's home. He also did an extra big "shout out" to Terri Stricklin (Hitching Post) for once again donating the meat for the BBQ. That was worth a $100 brag.
7) Frank Ortiz: Frank bragged $50 on Donna Bell. The District Governor's better half zoomed back and forth from Bakersfield from her job to make sure that she could join the fun with our club. Thank you Donna! It was a pleasure and an honor having you with us, now please try and get some much needed rest :)
8) President Seifert: Shannon also took the opportunity to brag on Terri Stricklin for hosting the District Governor and a few Executive Board members on Wednesday evening. The food and the service was fantastic as usual. She also learned quite a bit at the recent Bakersfield District Conference. The subject was developing "Rotary Millennials". To honor the job our club is doing with the high school Interact Club. Madam President presented a certificate to Michelle Jensen for all the hard work she does coordinating their events and meetings. That was worth $50.
FINES
1) James Thomas: Somebody lost some keys........Oh, were those your's James? Thanks for the $30. Shannon's always glad to help.
2) Jack Gresser: Apparently you were a King without a throne at a Rotating dinner recently. That will cost you $30
3) A Table of Bad Hosts: Somehow this table was unaware that they had a guest at their table that needed introducing. Luckily "Rotarian of the Month" Lee Carroll came to the rescue and rectified the situation. $30 to all of you at that table (you know who you are :)
4) Craig Bernard: Was fined for changing the date of a Rotating Dinner and not confirming that everyone got the message. Oh well, a small impromptu dinner was given instead. Anytime that Rotary fellowship can happen is a good thing. Good job Craig! (except that it will still cost you $30.......sorry)
5) Jim Peterson & Ted Ortega: My understanding is that President Shannon doesn't care for guys wearing shorts and black socks. This seems to be ongoing fine material, so if I were you, I'd burn the socks!! $30 to both of you.
6) Lee Carroll: Lee was fined $30 for defending the "black sock guys". Note to self: "Keep Mouth Shut"
7) Chris Hastert: Was fined $30 in absentia for not seeing the cute funny video that President Seifert handpicked for him.
8) Kevin Walthers: A fine was levied on Kevin for being in a "leaugue" of his own. Thanks for the $30 Kevin
9) Randy Wise: What is Tim Staffell's favorite song? An innocent question, right? I tried to answer, was wrong and immediately was fined $30. I think I need to re-read Lee Carroll's "Note to Self". Apparently, Your Cheating Heart was the correct answer that Terri Stricklin gave after me.
