BRAGS:

Monthly Rotarians of the Decade: Mark Clarke was named this week's "Monthly Rotarian of the Decade". He wasn't here today, so unfortunately for him.....he is out of luck (so sorry Mark).

Debbie Blow: bragged on a successful start to a new school year. She also has a new assistant superintendent and to top it all off, Mark Jackson was a true gentleman at her table this morning (isn't that as always??). $25

Roberto Rodriguez: just returned from a great trip to Atlanta where he is taking a crash course in what it takes to be a B & G Club CEO (just in case he has future aspirations). $20

Laurie Tamura: a new replacement for the Rancho Allegre Outdoor School was built, she had a birthday (we won't talk age) and she is very proud of fellow member Andy Caldwell jumping into the congressional arena. $100

Ken Bradley: took his family RV to Flying Flags and they had a great time. He also had a recent birthday and his wife Brooke, has one next week. $50

Ryan Swack: is so very proud and full of love for his two sons who started a new school year this past week. One began kindergarten and the other is in second grade. They already made new friends on the very first day! $25

Kate Ferguson: also bragged on Ryan's kids for donating their lemonade stand profits to the Shoes For Students fundraiser. $25

Mark Jackson: is going to Switzerland to reunite next week with four of his past Rotary Club foreign exchange students. All in all, there will be a total of 20 people that will be gathering together, so it should be a fantastic trip. Enjoy!  $25

FINES:

The following members were fined $30 each for not having some bogus app on their phone. I think it was called Club Runner??

Lee Carroll

Terry Dworaczyk

Dale Johnson

Betty Miller

Jim Small

Randy Wise

Ted Ortega: was fined $30 for having an award winning "Best use of Color" home (I think Kevin's jealous).

Mark Jackson: when a Google search was done on his business, Mark referred his potential customers to Tami Rabska, who is a competing insurance agent. Now we already knew that Mark was a true gentleman, but this is taking things a little too far. $30

Debbie Blow: recently installed upgraded security systems for all of the Orcutt School District's campuses. Rumor has it (according to President Kevin) that it might be due to a Hollywood child actor who is currently attending. I'm thinking not..........but she gets fined 30 bucks anyway.

Women Empowered Build Strong

Our program this morning was the return of Sandy Blair, who is the current CEO of the WEBS organization. This organization helps women veterans find temporary affordable housing and also helps the "phase in" process going into civilian life. The main objective at this time is to raise the necessary funds to build "tiny houses" for all local women veterans in need. The organization started out as a simple vision of Sandy and has now grown substantially since that early thought process. She spoke to our membership about the lives the organization has touched and the special WEBS volunteers that put in the hard work of getting things accomplished. She also announced that there will be a 2nd annual "Tiny House Gala" at the Santa Maria Country Club on Saturday September 7th beginning at 5:00 PM. This will help the organization raise much needed funds to help grow the tiny house inventory. At the end of her presentation, our Rotary Club was proud to present her with a check for $500 to help with future projects. Hopefully Ms. Blair will return each year and give us an update on their progress.
