BRAGS

Kristine Mollenkopf - Hague (Rotarian of the Month): Kristine wasted no time in bragging on her husband being home, a fun previous weekend which included the Magic Castle, Concert in the Park and an overall "Life's Good!".

Laurie Tamura: Took the opportunity to brag on her own birthday (8/12) and her Mom's surprise 79th b-day party. That was worth ($50 something). We'll leave the exact total to secretary Ken :)

Dan Blough: Bragged on his wife's decorating talents. Their house recently underwent an extensive remodeling in anticipation of their home being included in the annual holiday Royal Family Kids house tours. Tickets will be available as we get closer to the event.. That was worth $100.

Pat McDermott: Pat and Kelly Smith worked the bar at the James Thomas wedding this past weekend. A VIP tip jar was placed on the counter to "upsell" their "services??". That resulted in $168 that was generously given to the club as a donation to the scholarship fund. Thanks guys! The club very much appreciates it.

Chuck Halsell: Bragged $100 on his son's family business (Halsell Builders) being named "Business of the Year". He also took a moment to speak fondly about his brother who unfortunately passed away a few days ago in Louisiana.

Jim Peterson: Jim was beaming with pride as he thanked the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce for naming him "Citizen of the Year". He also thanked all the Breakfast Rotarians that attended the ceremony and showed their support. That was a brag worth $100.

Mark Jackson: Extremely happy that he found the Carty pictures.....$5.00  (well...maybe not that happy)

FINES

President Shannon: Pre-fined herself $50 for her upcoming mentions of the YMCA Golf Tournament in September.

Laurie Tamura: No B-day cake for Rotarians at the Chamber dinner? That's a $10.00 fine

Michelle Jensen: Speaking of birthdays. We think it was Larry's birthday on Sunday with no mention to the club. Even though you weren't at the meeting to defend yourself, that's still no excuse.....$30.00 please.

Concert in the Park Attendees: President Shannon started out by saying that everyone who attended the event would receive a make up meeting credit. Then she tried to fine people for not having a Rotary pin on that day. Then it was noted that she was over an hour late to the event herself. So after all was said and done, I think nothing actually happened. (that's probably best).

Ted Ortega: Beth and Ted had an informal gathering at their home after the Sunday concert and then tried to deem it as a Rotating Dinner. Hmmm... I don't think it works that way Ted ($30.00)

Dave Wright: Dave's dog attended the concert, but unfortunately for Dave he wasn't attached to him....$30.00.

Kevin Walthers: Tried to teach the fine art of tapping a beer keg. He wore the majority of the contents all over his shirt after completing the task. Don't they teach Keg 101 at Hancock?

Andy Caldwell: Andy was in superb "roasting form" as he ribbed our very own "Citizen of the Year" Jim Peterson. No fine applied. It was just a fun Rotary time! (another reason to never miss a meeting)

50/50 Winners: Jim Peterson and Reggie Johnson

Special Olympics 2015

This week, Special Olympics athlete Matthew Luna spoke to the club about his experience at the Los Angeles games. Matthew played left field on the United States softball team. This year the team took home the bronze medal. Matt very much enjoyed himself and got to meet a wide variety of people from all over the world, Mr. Luna has been competing since 2009 and looks forward to being involved for many more years to come.
