ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
 
Toy Drive: Mike Gibson is organizing a Toy Drive that benefits the Probation Department and the female parolees and their children. For many of these children, this may be the only gift they receive.  We have already raised $1,885 for this effort.
 
Annual Rotary Family Christmas Breakfast (with "special guest" Santa Claus): This year's event will occur on Thursday December 19 at 7:00 AM, at the Santa Maria Country Club. Please e-mail Wendy Foxen the age of your attending children and what type of present that they would prefer. 
 
Coats, Jackets, Sweaters Drive: Kate Ferguson is organizing the drive, we have already delivered a lot of coats to the shelter.  From this point forward the donations will go to the Salvation Army.  They will also accept sheets, blankets, and towels.  
 
Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army:
Bells ringers are needed December 21 and 22 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Orcutt Albertsons.  
 
 
Rotary Christmas Party: Saturday December 21, 2019 (Time: TBA) at Testa's Bistro. The cost is $80 per person. Kate Ferguson is organizing the event, you only need to respond if you have not already given her your RSVP.  We are continuing our "white elephant" gift exchange - one gift per couple, $30 limit.
 
 
Guatemala Trip (International Service): Mark Jackson has all the info on joining fellow Rotarians on a trip to Guatemala. This will be a working trip that will be highlighted by many social experiences as well as some R & R time in Antiqua.  There is still time to sign-up for the March 7 & 14 dates.  The cost is $600, and Rotary International will cover this cost for between 6 to 8 Rotary members.

Paul Harris Award Winners:
Ed Carcarey was recognized as our newest Paul Harris Fellow, for $1,000 in contributions.
 
 
BRAGS:
PCPA Performance of the Little Mermaid
There was significant discussion around PCPA's wonderful performance of the Little Mermaid.
 
Frank Ortiz & Laurie Tamura both bragged and thanked Betty Miller for putting together the Rotary night at the performance.  
 
Santa Maria Parade of Lights
 
 
There were several brags on the Parade:
Mike Gibson bragged on the tabloid for the 25th anniversary - $25

Shannon Seifert, bragged on Dave Wright and Mike Gibson for the organization and Kevin for delegation.  Craig Bernard helped out by giving a person a ride to the end of the parade and still make it back to the beginning before the parade started $5
 
Mark Jackson bragged on the judges: we missed Ted this year, and appreciated Angelica, who was fantastic.  Jerry Walsh and Dan Blough were also helpful.  It was almost like they had the winners figured out before the parade?  $30
 
Kevin Walthers also bragged on the parade, and Angie and her daughter Zoie, who decorated the judges stand. He also recognized Tim Seifert with the lights, and Mark Jackson for all that he does. The float was fantastic! - $100
 
Tim Seifert thanked everyone who worked on the float.  No one was hurt, and he is excited to see it become a trailer again today - $25
 
Other brags:
Leonard Champion was all dressed up in a suit to take down the float.  He bragged that 
he got a cruel phone call reminding him it was his birthday yesterday - $51 
 
Ted Ortega missed the parade, as he spent the week in New York City.   It is the place to be if you want to feel the Christmas spirit - $100
 
Ken Bradley bragged on a Thanksgiving week vacation in Cabo and having the whole family together - $50
 
Jim Peterson bragged on Kate, who brought dinner over for Arlene who had minor surgery last Fri.  He also thanked everyone for the well wishes - $25
 
FINES:
Andy Caldwell, was fined $30 in abstencia
 
Dale Johnson was fined $30 because he didn't organize the Bell Ringers for the Salvation Army
 Program
 

St. Joseph's High School Community Theater

 

The St. Joseph Community Theater is under the direction of Amy Curti.  The group is composed of actors from all ages - high school through adult.  They treated us to a preview of the upcoming production of the Phantom of the Opera.
